I have absolutely no experience with excell so some things could probably have been done a lot more simple. So if you see something in there that could be better, please tell<br /><br />The excell file should make the calculations of the game while playing. This means that I would constantly need to ad all change into the excell file, but this way the players can just play without counting all the time. It also makes alot more complicated things possible that wouldn't be possible otherwise.<br /><br />In the file I made the first page wich basically says the fucntion of each tile. In each tile there is a combination of letters. The first one gives the function, next the height, next the owner, etc. This way I can just add all the info on one tile in this playing field. In the next tab there is a simple viual representation wich woul possibly make things easier to oversee. Then the other tabs do calculations based on the current situation.<br />They say how much a player earns each round. They dont keep track of what a player owns, or what he buys, builts, etc. This all happens in RL with the real money. The excell file just says how much a player will earn in rent, pay taxes, etc.<br /><br />If you're interested take a look here. De website <a href="http://www.swarm.org/index.php?title=Main_Page">swarm.org</a> linkt zo bijvoorbeeld naar <a href="http://www.swarm.org/index.php?title=Tools_for_Agent-Based_Modelling">een aantal open-source programmas</a> waarmee men dergelijke 'agent based' simulaties kan doen.<br /><br />Nu stelt zich echter de vraag of computer- simulaties wel een juiste keuze zijn. Deze simulaties vertrekken immers van <span style="font-style: italic;">agents </span>die gedetermineerde beslissingen nemen. Dit leidt dus ook automatisch tot een op voorhand gedetermineerd eindresultaat. Als men een situatie 10 keer door een computer laat simuleren gaat die 10 keer hetzelfde resultaat leveren.<br /><br />Dit gaat echter in tegen het idee van mijn ontwerp waarbij de mens en zijn creatieve input centraal staan. Het is mijn bedoeling een soort van 'framework' te creëren, dat dan door de gebruikers zelf wordt opgevuld. Het is echter ook belangrijk dat de gebruiker, buiten het feit dat hij locaal ageert, ook een <span style="font-weight: bold;">zicht kan hebben op globale processen</span>. Zo kan hij hierop inspelen of anticiperen (<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agency_%28philosophy%29">zie ook <span style="font-style: italic;">agency</span></a>).<br /><br />Stel dat ik deze laatste voorwaarde niet zou opnemen in het syteem. Dan zou het systeem de menselijke mogelijkheid tot inzicht (die een computer of dier veel minder hebben) totaal langs zich neerleggen. Het nadeel hier is dan weer dat men met die regels wil uitmonden in een soort imitatie van echte steden. En de interne structuren van deze programmas zijn natuurlijk ook niet toegankelijk.<br /><br />Een volgende mogelijkheid is zelf een eenvoudige simulatie maken. Deze kan zich dan concentreren op een deelaspect en aantonen dat bepaalde principes werken. Simuleren vanuit excell lijkt na enkele korte tests niet haalbaar. Specifieke vragen die ik hierover wil beantwoorden zijn: Wat is collectieve intelligentie? Hoe komt dit voor bij mensen en meer specifiek in steden(bouw)? Kan dit gemanipuleerd, gestuurd of versterkt worden en hoe?<br /><br />Wat is collectieve intelligentie? Het begrip collectieve intelligentie kan vrij ruim worden geinterpreteerd. In eerste instantie wil ik dus de verschilende soorten onderscheiden, bekijken waar ze zoal in verschillen en wat belangrijke factoren erin zijn om zo tot een beter begrip ervan te komen. It might very well automatically develop to be farming land; without the need to force anyone to cultivate it.</span><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">Now what if the situation changed slightly. All the basic factors (road acces, water, climate, soil) stay the same, only the location changes. The piece of land is now located in Manhattan. It's more likely now the piece will be built with a skyscra</span>per.<br /><br />So it seems the use of a piece of land is determined by a number of <span style="font-weight: bold;">different factors</span>. But <span style="font-weight: bold;">changing one of them slightly can have big effects</span> on the eventual development of this piece of land.<br /><br />Comparison with the internet:<br /><br />The <span style="font-weight: bold;">internet was originally made as a basic structure, a set of rules, a protocol</span>. First there was the http protocol (and others) which, combined with a modem, allowes data to be sent from one pc to another.<br />This allowed data transfers in very specific and professional situations (universities, companies, ...).<br /><br />Later they added extra protocols to it. One of the first important ones was the .html filetype (later followed by many others: php, flash, ...). The internet became much more accesible and even 'buildable' by less professional users. <span style="font-weight: bold;">The simple changing (or adding) of basic 'game rules' changed and extended the use of the internet dramatically.</span><br /><br />Later even more rules (a 'framework') were added by different platforms such as Wikipedia and Looknmeet. By creating this framework, they allowed the internet to come to a next phase of <span style="font-weight: bold;">user-generated content </span>and they're beginning to show the internets real potential.<br /><br />Central systems with power over the internet are very limited. They have nothing more to say then just making up some of the basic rules (protocols). And only the very general ones. More and more the making of the protocols is in the hands of the users themselves.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Wikipedia shows that it's possible to generat very specific and extensive data, just with the input of users.
